History of HOA2 Board of Directors

For more than 15 years the HOA2 Board of Directors was controlled by Robson Development. It wasn’t until Saddlebrooke 2 was transitioned to the homeowners, that we were in control of our own destiny.

Like any organization, leadership is needed to mold the community to reflect the personalities and needs of its residents. To accomplish this the Board of Directors plays a key role. The Board needs to reflect the values and ideals of the homeowners. To that end, having a diverse and changing board is necessary for this to happen.

The Chart above shows the history of our Board members since 2014. We have attempted to put this together from various publications and minutes from years past. We have also included related committees the Board members have sat on which also materially affects the operation of the association. As you can see, over the past 7 years the composition of the Board has been static. People rotate from one committee to another, from one position to another. But it is the same group of people.

Board members are elected for a 2 year term and are staggered so there is always someone on the Board with experience.

At Saddlebrooke 2 the job and time requirements for a Board member is substantial. For that reason most Saddlebrooke 2 homeowners don’t even want to consider sitting on the board. We need to have new faces and ideas sitting on the Board each year.

Let’s get out of this rut and elect some new faces and ideas to sit on the Board of Directors for 2021. Recycle your newspapers not your Board members.

  1. Good work. It should be noted that there was immense failure on the BOD and related committees in evaluating the golf course purchase. We paid $2 million for an asset which independent analysis valued between zero and -$2 million. The BOD can arguably be said to have been deficient in evaluating the condition of our assets during Transition. Einecker was long complicit in adhering to the Robson BOD proposals vs homeowner points of view. Terese is an Einecker protege who has zero understanding of financial issues. It’s too late now to make these arguments. I’d guess that Terese and Joyce will get about 1500 votes vs 500 for any of the others.

    Art,

I concur with your comment we “need to elect some new faces” in order to question and re evaluate how we can better manage the cultural and business affairs of HOA 2.

Having served eight years on our Finance Committee, I was always amazed our resident board members lacked necessary curiosity and introspection to the question and issue of “what is it we don’t know to know” about the nuances of governing and managing a large and complicated homeowner association. None of our serving board members, nor committee members have the experience of managing a homeowner association. Ergo, why not consider alternate approachs to managing our HOA? Why not consider retention of a professional homeowner association management company? Many other large homeowner associations have fared far better than Saddlebrooke with such professional management.

As a former business executive, it is apparent our Saddlebrooke business model is not working well. Perhaps a fresh perspective among new board members will ask the question why?

Art, thanks for this information, it was very enlightening. We have much the same problem in HOA1- a “hoary” Board.

    Best regards, Bill Bengen
